Yeah, I know I can shell out 75 bucks to Roy Jinks at S&W, and get a nice letter telling me when my piece was made, but I was wondering if any of you S&W serial number gurus might like to comment on this mystery before I do that. So why would it have a manual with a revision date of 1978 on it? If that comment is accurate, then my piece was made before late 1976. So that leaves me with a mystery of sorts. Someone replied in the comments of his video that his gun was likely made 'in late 1976.' I was recently watching a Youtube Video about a Model 60 No Dash, and the owner stated his serial number, which was higher than mine. So up to now, I have always more or less assumed this gun was made circa 1978 - 1980. ![]() The owner's manual inside the box has a revision date of 1978 on it. The serial number on this gun is R157XXX. I added a Tyler T grip adapter to it, and here is a picture of it. ![]() The seller thought this gun 'might' have been unfired, and who knows, he may have been right. Awhile back I picked up a mint condition S&W Model 60 Chief's Special in rollicking. ![]()
